Ceramic Coating FAQ
What is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is a transparent liquid protective layer that chemically bonds to your vehicle's clear coat. Once cured, it creates a durable barrier that helps preserve the paint while enhancing its appearance.
Unlike waxes or sealants, ceramic coating does not simply sit on the surface—it becomes part of the paint protection system and lasts significantly longer.
A professional ceramic coating provides:
- Outstanding gloss and depth of color
- Strong hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties
- UV protection to reduce paint oxidation and fading
- Improved resistance to chemicals, bird droppings and environmental contamination
- Easier vehicle maintenance and washing
Does ceramic coating protect against scratches?
No.
Ceramic coating is not scratch-proof and should not be considered a replacement for Paint Protection Film (PPF).
It can reduce the risk of very light wash marring when the vehicle is maintained correctly, but it will not prevent scratches from keys, branches, shopping carts, stones or accidents.
The best protection comes from combining ceramic coating with proper washing techniques.
How is ceramic coating different from wax?
Both products improve gloss and repel water, but ceramic coating offers substantially better durability and protection.
Compared to wax, ceramic coating:
- Lasts much longer
- Resists chemicals far better
- Provides stronger UV protection
- Maintains hydrophobic performance for years instead of weeks or months
- Requires less frequent reapplication
Wax is a temporary protective layer, while ceramic coating is a long-term investment in your vehicle's finish.
How long does ceramic coating last?
We use professional-grade American ceramic coatings designed to last up to 3 years with proper maintenance.
Actual durability depends on:
- Washing methods
- Driving conditions
- Climate
- Regular maintenance
Proper care is essential to achieve the maximum service life.
How should I maintain ceramic coating?
Proper maintenance keeps ceramic coating performing at its best.
We recommend:
- Hand washing only
- A minimum two-bucket wash method (three-stage washing is even better)
- pH-neutral automotive shampoos
- Avoiding aggressive degreasers and harsh alkaline chemicals
- A professional maintenance wash every six months using acidic decontamination shampoos and ceramic booster products
Regular maintenance restores hydrophobic performance and helps maximize coating life.
How do I choose the right detailing studio?
The quality of installation is just as important as the coating itself.
A professional workshop should have:
- Indoor application away from direct sunlight
- Clean, dust-controlled environment
- Bright, even lighting for paint inspection
- A complete preparation process included in the service
Always ask exactly what preparation is included before the coating is applied.
What preparation do you perform before applying ceramic coating?
Proper preparation determines the final result.
Every ceramic coating service includes:
- Professional detailing wash
- Iron contamination removal
- Clay bar decontamination
- Paint inspection
- Machine polishing
For new vehicles we usually perform a light correction polish.
For used vehicles we carry out paint correction when necessary before the coating is applied.
Only after the paint is perfectly clean and properly prepared do we apply the ceramic coating.
Why does a brand-new car still need preparation?
A new car is not truly "clean."
Before reaching its owner, it may spend weeks or months:
- At the factory
- In transport
- On ships
- At ports
- In storage lots
- At dealerships
During this time the paint accumulates industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, salt, metal particles and other contaminants.
Even vehicles with only delivery mileage often require decontamination and light polishing before ceramic coating can properly bond to the paint.
Only a properly prepared surface allows the coating to achieve maximum durability and performance.
How long does the ceramic coating process take?
The required time depends on the condition of the vehicle, because proper preparation is the most important part of the process.
- Brand-new vehicles: approximately 1 full day
- Used vehicles in good condition: approximately 2 days
- Vehicles requiring extensive paint correction: up to 3 days
We never rush the process. Every vehicle receives the preparation it needs to ensure the ceramic coating bonds properly and delivers maximum durability, gloss and protection.
Please note: The final completion time is determined after we inspect your vehicle. Paint condition varies from car to car, even among brand-new vehicles.
Can ceramic coating be applied to matte paint?
Yes.
We use coatings specifically designed for matte and satin finishes. They protect the paint without changing its appearance or adding unwanted gloss.
Can ceramic coating be applied to plastic, wheels and glass?
Yes.
Different ceramic coatings are designed for different surfaces.
Depending on your package, we can protect:
- Painted surfaces
- Plastic trim
- Wheels
- Glass
- Headlights
